No, IRR does not mean "Internal Rate of Return", so quit asking. According to About.com: "Soldiers usually enter the IRR after finishing the active duty portion of their enlistment. Soldiers incur an eight-year obligation upon enlisting. Most soldiers, however, serve four years. That leaves four years in the IRR. Other soldiers enter the IRR after finishing selected reserve duty. Officers are in the IRR until they resign their commissions."
Here is a current list of IRR blogs in the Milblogging.com database...
1. Citizen Soldier
2. GI.John
3. IRR Soldier
4. MI VIDA LOCA
5. Running through the jungle with my paper and pen
6. With Every Sunset, We're Closer to Our Dreams

Kat sent me a truly good story about a Christmas Card Project for troops in Iraq. I thought I'd help her spread the word, and help bring the average number of visitors to her site per day, to at least 6. Hey, don't persecute me, she'll be the first one to tell you. That, or you can check out her sitemeter (at the bottom of her blog) and see for yourself.
That's it for me. Now, go read more about the Christmas Card Project...
Kat writes:
Do you have a yellow ribbon magnet on your car that says, “Support the troops?
Do you routinely SAY, “I support our troops?”
Would you like to be able to do MORE than that to show the troops how much you support and appreciate them?
Would you like a real, tangible way to say “Thank you!” directly to a deployed Hero?
Well, here’s your chance! Make a very real difference this Christmas ~ bring a bit of home to our troops! Visit my site and find out how!

Here's the list of new milblogs added the Milblogging.com database, November 4 - 6. And yes, I'll be adding more tonight even after this column is published. Those with feeds to Milblogging.com, please excuse me for adding the "New Sites Added" column a couple days late. Anyway, some real good milblogs in this latest batch. Give 'em a look-see. Some milbloggers write "real good" (grammar error to see if my Mom really reads this blog). By the way, don't just take a look at the Top 100, give some of these newly added blogs your alone-time.

Now here’s a worthy initiative:
A listing of 505 (and counting) milblogs spread over 15 countries, all searchable by gender, author, country and much more.
So if you want to find a milblog written by a transgendered Inuit paratrooper living in Burkino Faso… Well, maybe not, but you get the picture.
LCs, I give you Milblogging.com, your one-stop milblog locator for news on military issues from people who actually know what they’re talking about.
(Can also be found under the Dept. of Hegemony by Force on the sidebar)
And if you're too lazy to go read the comments. Here's what one reader said (true comment):
LC Brilliant Pebble: What if Im the paratrooper in burkina faso? Come see me.

If you're gonna read any other milblog out there, go read 365 and a Wakeup. I can't imagine a more powerful milblog than 365 and a Wakeup. The author, thunder6, has been through the worst of the worst, and yet, he continues to drive on.
Now. Go read 365 and a Wakeup.
Here's an excerpt from a recent column:
In the face of so stunning a loss it is natural for the soul to grow weary, and for the mind to wail for that which has been so violently ripped away. It would be the easiest of things to let my heart turn as cold as death and let it pump my veins with frigid and poisonous ice. But that would dishonor the memory of our fallen, and would be an unfitting tribute to men who had given the last full measure of devotion. Instead I will do something far more difficult; I will continue onward and complete our unfinished work. There will come a day when I will weep bitter tears for my fallen comrades and friends, but right now there is much to be done. And it is up to those of us who knew these wonderful men to see it through to the end.

Speaking of milblogs, they're being written by more than just members of the military who are deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Milblogs are being written everyday by spouses, siblings, children, supporters, stateside members of the military, new recruits, veterans, military wannabes, yadda yadda yadda. So now, check out our database using the Advanced Search, or simply click on Top 100, Recently Added, By Country, By Gender, By Language, By Branch, or Alphabetical.

As Blackfive writes: "Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, provides voice-controlled software and laptop computers to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand and arm injuries or amputations at major military medical centers."
There are a lot of bogus charity sites on the internet taking money for some real garbage. Michael Jackson's legal defense, some banker in Nigeria who wants to partner up with me to siphon millions of dollars using my checking account, and much much more. I get these emails all the time. Really, how dumb do you have to be?
Anyway, donate to Project Valour-IT. Listen, nobody cares if you continue to donate to some lame-ass charity that toots Paris Hilton as the next President. But if you really want to make a difference, donate donate donate to Project Valour-IT.
And Blackfive, I support the Army. I've had it with the Navy. Had it. Navy leads the Army-Navy series, 832-636-38. And, I'm Army National Guard. We're Army, too.

"One milblogger has turned his Iraq blog into an award-winning book, “Saving Babylon: The Heart of an Army Interrogator in Iraq.” Author Paul Holton, who used the name “Chief Wiggles” in his blog, was in Kuwait in the days leading up to the invasion of Iraq. He witnessed the toppling of the regime and Saddam’s eventual capture. Holton’s blog attracted thousands of readers while he was stationed in Iraq, and he expects to reach an even broader audience with his book."
