Bio:I just want to introduce myself to everyone real quick. I am a soldier that is currently in the California National Guard. I spent most of my career in the Active component of the Army but got out to go to school and spend more time with my son. I am not an American; I am a Canadian that is trying to become an American. I have been in the US for over half of my life and a third of it in the service of this great nation. I have been over seas on deployments to the Balkans, lived in Korea for a year or so and spent a year and change in Iraq already. I have been “selected” to return to Iraq for another tour. This should be an entirely new experience since it is a different style of unit and leadership and the mission has changed so much from the last time I was there. I am currently training our Platoon up at Shelby to deploy and look forward to the experiences and people I will work with and meet. My intent with this blog is to create an acquaintance with our guys and their experiences. Many have used this “war” to promote their personal agenda’s and politics. My agenda is simple I have some great and interesting soldiers and I believe in my heart that the human-interest story is far more relative than certain political angles. Do not expect any Operational Information just vignettes and reflections from myself and the men. Obviously I will try to keep everything up to date but sometimes things really are out of our control.
